The rear windows of my 635 are not working. They have probably been broken for years, but the car has not run for ages and they are probably seized.

These is an access pannel in the rear wing inner that allows one to get at the window winders to close them in the event of failure, but they are so stiff I sont want to break anything. Any suggestions as to what to do.

There is a possibility trhat the morors work, but the regulator is seized. What should I do?

Thanks Ben

AHA! I've just visited someone this afternoon, who's dismantling a 635CSi (1982 model). He's got window regulators and motors, and a good many other goodies besides.

Sean Wicks is his name, and his number is (07976) 295520. Tell him I sent you.

usually the rear windows are just seized up through lack of use and dried out lubricant.

First check for power at the switch, and verify that the switch itself is OK.

Next, take the rear seats out (just two screws each) and then remove the trim panel. You now should have perfect access to the window mechanism. Mostly they come back fine after a clean and lube up.

While you are in there tip a couple of pints of waxoxl in- it is a corrosion spot down in there....

cheers
