Topic: Factory fitted alarm Posted: 05-June-2003 at 17:32 |
I have a BMW530 manufactured 2002 and want to fit a device that sends an sms message to my mobile if the factory fitted alarm is activated. Does nayone know where the alarm control unit is located in this car as I need to attach two wires between the positive and the unit and between the unit and the horn. Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks

Is your alarm Thatcham approved? You may want to be a bit cautious as you dont want to invalidate the Thatcham improved installation. If it is, it might be worth going to an approved alarm specialist who deals with lots of BMWs. By the way, may I ask about the device? Who makes this? I might be interested in one. Cheers. |

Sorry I meant "Thatcham APPROVED installation" and not "improved installation". ;)

The autodialler is manufactured by a Swedish company called Phonesafe AB. Details can be found at http://www.phonesafeab.com It should be ok to fit simply because it does not affect in any way the operation of the alarm. I have a similar devive fitted to my house alarm and went through the same routine of checking insurance and they even reduced my premium due to the fact that I am alerted by SMS to my mobile and therefore more likely (than the neighbours) to act on the alarm sounding! |
