My father in law bought a 528i sport Auto from Fairfield 3 months ago the car is a one owner and full BMWSH with 53k on the clock and full warranty.

When the car was viewed it had a misted headlight which they agreed to sort out, they replaced the seal on the headlight. After a few days it was misted again so back down the dealers and they put another seal on!!-personally i dont think they changed it the 1st time just wiped the inside and gave it back!!

A few days later and yes you guessed it,misted up,so they order a headlight, back a few days later to get it fitted and they have ordered the wrong type!!(orange indicators not white)

Finally right part turns up and gets fitted and all is well.

Then on there way back from cornwall bank hol weekend the ABS/ASC light comes on and the gearbox wont change up or down, this sorts itself out after a few minutes but they managed to get home safely.

Called out BMW emergency service and they diagnose rear wheel sensors faulty.

Book in car at fairfield and they have changed the front wheel sensors?? saying the rear ones where fine??

Now forgive me for loosing a bit of faith in them as per the last fault but is this right?

And also can you change the wheel sensors without removing the wheels??

This is my father in laws first BMW and is not giving him much confidence in the car and is looking to get rid if anything else goes wrong

Your opinions please......

I know someone who is still waiting to get their CD Player repaired after 5 visits to Fairfield. They contacted BMW Customer Service to complain and were told "you have to give the dealership a chance to repair it first". Three times its been their and each time they have not done anything because the parts either have not arrived or they forgot it was booked in. The car is a 3 series. It also took 2 visits to diagnose what was wrong ! This has been going on since just after Easter and they continually have to chase the garage.

that is totally crap service.

try a fully detailed letter of complaint to the Dealer Principle (sent by Recorded Delivery) with a copy to BMW GB.

at the very least the Parts & Service Mgr should ring you to discuss once your letter has plopped into his in-tray.

some BMW Dealers are crap, others are 1st class. its a lottery as to which one you will get.

Without checking, it probably is possible to change sensors without removing the wheels - 2 poster ramp

There is also I believe only two sensors - diametrically opposite
one on the front axle one on the rear (osr + fns)
