Yup, someone has decided to go all the way round my car almost to bare metal (but luckily not). Also scratched b**ch into the drivers door (obviously got the wrong person!) NOT FUNNY

Got one of those Turtle Wax Chip Sticks and filled it all in, well nearly, 3/4 of the car. Need another one really to complete it. Looks better than it did yesterday.

How much is it gonna cost me to get repaired? Can it be done without a full respray?

I hope it can be done without a full respray, as you aren't going to get much change out of two grand for a proffesional two pack job on something that size.
Best Wishes

Its ALL the way round, missing only the bonnet, one wing and the roof. Top half of the car only.

i would get a few quotes for paint jobs the problem with metallic is when they try to blend the old in with the new paint there can be slight differences in the colour

i also have a few cosmetic scratches in my paint work which i want sorted out but to save the hassle of bottom or top half respray i was just going to get a full one i have been quoted from £800.00 upwards and that is knowing the people aswell for my dolphin metallic 89 525

also check with your insurance as well didi youreport it to the coppers

The main problem with a full respray on a metalic car is the lacquer has to come off, cheaper ones tend not to do that....but...its what your looking for at the end of the day.

If you look at a lot of cars you will see lacquer peeling at some edges, around windows, by trim etc, that usually where they have been repaired, blown in etc.

Here's a pic of mine after my mate did it :

Its a very easy job, 3 screws if I remenber correctly, and no the headlights don't have to come out.

They were on it when I bought it, I wouldn't have bothered changing them.

All the lights, bumpers, trim etc came off when it was painted.

Best Wishes

Two of the screws are at the front ( inside ), one is towards the wing nearest the light.

FYI, if all the damage is above the swage (hip) line, that is a good blending point for a top half respray.

Have they uncovered & damaged any previous repairs?

Comiserations on the damage, someone did that to my E34 too.
