Flatting and polishing required a rubber block,
Superfine 1500 grit wet and dry plus soapy water. You can then use either a fine grade of rubbing compound or preferably T Cut with an electric mop. The effect it has either on metallics or flat colours is remove orange peel. I once painted a gloss (non metallic) black XJ-S in cellulose after a body rebuild and after a month, did this but with T Cut and by hand. It came up like glass - you could literally shave in the reflection. As an additon I used to add a bit of paraffin to the rinsing water when cleaning it.........as the old saying goes 'it shines like a new sixpence on a Monkey's A*se" |

Robmw wrote:- can you explain the term flattening of the paintwork , What does this do ? To flat & polish paintwork you only flat down the surface of the lacquer to remove all the grime & small scratches which have built up over the years, then you power polish it which brings the paintwork up like new, sometimes better than new. You have to be very carefull not to polish through the lacquer, in particular on the edge of panels, spoilers, wheel arches etc. This is not something I would do myself it is best to use a trained technician! Car looks brilliant in the photos, can you explain the term flattening of the paintwork , What does this do ? I have heard of the term when looking at Bimmer magazine but then it was with reference a new car and orange peel, surely if you flatten the highs of the paint you therefore remove the metallic element in the paint ?

Just noticed the Shogun hiding away behind the Six.
You must do a bit of tarmac-ing on the side then . Get dat droive fixed BeJeezzuz! Lovely car though. When the new 6 came out I went to a suit and tie launch at my dealer and there was a gloss black Highline in with the new one. More people were looking at the original...... Can't say the new 6 does anything for me at all, as good as they undoubtedly are. At least they don't have Metric wheels. |

Cheers for the comments lads. With regard to the driveway I can only say it matches quite a lot of the house, I am mid term into refurbishment but buying the six before completion means that time is being spent on the car & work on the house has had to suffer. It,s all about priorities, you all know what I mean! |

After close inspection; that has to be one of the best 635's Ive ever seen, It is a very lovely car. The only fault I can find is to the latter section of your driveway! |

Wheel sizes are 8 1/2 / 17 front & 9 1/2 / 17 rear. Front mudflaps are original part from www.wallothnesch.com This company is based in Germany & they buy up all old stock of new parts from dealers around the world. I have eta to thank for suggesting site. |

Looks like 8x17" from where I'm sitting. Then again, W&N still sell the original 7x16" front / 8x16" rear |
