Nice find surprisingly good quality.  I was expecting to see some ropey scans with the pages off the plumb!

Don't suppose anyone has found the Haynes manual for the E39 on line yet?

My local Halfrauds still don't have it in stock even though it was released by Haynes in June.

Haynes manuals are good for starting a fire with.
The old style (bright blue) E28 manual isn't bad, the
later one (maroon cover) is utter rubbish.

Sorry, but you can't beat the Bentley manual - the
best £80 or so you'll spend.

Probably a silly question, but, which manual covers my E34 525i 24v, with the M50 engine and single Vanos ?

p.s. the car is a 1994 'M' reg.

Thanks

Michael..

It's not a silly question Michael. Haynes very thoughtfully produced a manual to cover all E28 and E34 5 series, but only up to 1991, which is when the M50 engine replaced the M20. Obviously they couldn't be ****d to get an M50 engined 5 series and strip it down. Hence the Bentley's your only option (wish someone would scan that in). Or you have to do what I do and get as much info as poss from forums and websites such as this before attempting a job, or work in the dark!

HTH

John.

Cheers John, will have to save up then, for a Bentley book. Like you say maybe small jobs could be discussed on this forum.

Thanks for your help..

I tell a lie - they're about £35 ish from Brooklands
Books. www.brooklandsbooks.com
It covers the USA stuff - no 518i then, but covers the
525i 12v and 24v (which is 99% the same as a 520i)
as well as the V8 and M30 (530i and 535i). No
diesels but they're not really DIY anyway.

The ISBN number is 0-8376-0319-6

Just ordered it.  £19.49 inc first class postage and two-three day delivery.

We shall need to see if it will be any good but I'm not holding my breath!

No cos a) I ordered it from Haynes and not the BMW CC and b) I'm not a member yet. Sorry.  Meant to rectify that after I sat my exam three weeks ago.
