Me again. Same car, E36 Coupe 1995 20k miles. When I'm doing a steady 60mph on the motorway every so often the autobox does a little hiccup (best way I can describe it). I't like its about to kickdown but then changes its mind - all in the space of half a second or so. the autobox was services with new filter and fluid about 2000 miles ago.

Hi Dave

Don't know if this is the same thing. some years ago I had an oldish 5 series with an auto box. When it got up to about 50 - 60 mph or so there was a bit of a lurch and it felt like it was changing up a gear. I contacted BMW UK and they said that it was the torque converter locking up, so you more or less get a 'Solid' drive, like a manual at a certain load / speed. They said it was normal. True or not I couldn't say. I had the car for many years and it was fine.
