Looking around on dealer forcourts today and spotted an Z3 2.8 going for £10k. 99T with 60k on the clock and a book full of dealer stamps all from Scotthall Leeds. It looked quite nice. never really been a fan but up close they look quite muscular. Sat in it and wow, what a great driving position.

Just a shame that the car was a bit rough around the edges. Slight signs of rust appearing around the hole where the filler caps sits, just on the inside lip but still rust. Also around the edges of the front panel as well.

It did however arouse my interest enough to think one might be an option.

Only real problem is practicallity. Two seats I could cope with but the lack of a decent boot is a problem.....

You never know though.

Peter

I think you would be suprised just how much you can get in a Z3. Mike Fishwick loads his for a 2 week camping holiday for two people, there was something about it in one of the club magazines a while back. Mike also posted this item on zroadster.net in the knowledgebase section

With regards to rust appearing, I find that a little strange unless the car has been repaired at some stage, most Z3's at the moment seem to be rust free, apart from a few spots round the boot lock, and most of these are sorted under the anti corrossion warranty.

Sounds a good price too for a 99, most models of that year fetch a little more than that, I assume it was not a BMW dealer forecourt.

No, it was in an independant garage. I suspect the low price was due to the slightly rough around the edges condition. It didn't look like it had been repaired, just like it may have been a bit too close to the sea..

Had a look on autotrader and it seams that £9-10k gets a decent 98 car.
