Morning all.

I have a quick query re: a "warning" message I receive on cold mornings, which to be honest is every morning at the moment

The warning is: "CHECK COOLANT LEVEL"

I have checked this numerous times at various times of the day and, as far as I can tell, its OK.

  • Does anyone here have the same "issue"?
  • Anyone know anything about it?

NOTE: This only happens on cold mornings.

Suspect coolant level sensor. You could try measuring the resestance level acrosss the sensor but having said that I don't know what the acceptable values would be - sorry! Any one here know?

I have the same problem by the way. I'm having a new radiator fitted + new sensor tomorrow so I'll see if this clears it. If not then I'd guess it would be a weakness in the wiring or the CCM unit in the fusebox.

I had this issue with a 1998 540i, and on my car the problem was the sensor which is in the expansion tank.  Cost £120 to put a new tankin at the dealers.
