    Posted: 03-July-2003 at 12:45

I wish to add the M-Tech body kit to my 1991 318is, the question i have is that my car has a single exhaust, the only M-Tech kits I have seen have been fitted to dual exhaust cars ie 325 sports etc.

The ETK CD indicates it's the same rear bumper for a 318is or a 325, can anyone confirm this?

In my opinion my single exhaust will look a bit lost in the large cutout meant for the dual exhaust pipes. (Not that i've ever seen any)

Alternativly has anyone got any pictures of a single exhaust car with the M-Tech rear bumper.

P.s Anyone got a cheap M-Tech bumper they want to sell?

P.P.s Also after a Near side M-Tech sill ...

Thanks, Mark

I have seen a few E30 318is with the mtech 2 kit supplied as a factory fitted and retro item. It was something i was also thinking of adding when i had my 1991 white 318is, it would finish the car off and give it the nice stance of the 325i sport. Seen one locally which still has a single pipe and I don't think it looks that bad. If it does worry you then try fitting a rear exhaust trim oval or twin (usual halford's bits). Alternatively get someone like Powerflow to put together a stainless rear, they made me a cracker using a magnex rear box (mine is a 325 but i'm sure if it is a custom fit it won't matter they will still get one to fit.) One of the pics on my link shows the rear with the magnex twin they made for me.

Great car the 318is, nice steering/handling and very responsive 16v. Still miss the one i had.

You could get a heatshield for a single exhaust and place it over the twin exhaust cutout.

Mark R - I've fitted the sill / door panels to my 325 4 door - already had Zender front and rear so left them on.
I've got a spare sill but can't remember if its L or R - doh! I'll check it out for you.
You do realise that these bits are harder to get hold of than rocking horse sh*t don't you?
All the proper brackets/screws etc to fit the parts are available thru BMW, not cheap tho, cost me over £40 in bits just for sill & panels!! (incl 10/20% discount)
If you need copy of the official BMW fitting instructions for front, back, side or whatever, I can get you a set - email me or call 0709 112 1111 & leave message.
