Anybody got or investigated the Power Boost Valve that Motormec are
selling?

It's a replacement fuel pump that claims to improve throttle response, flat
spots and general performance. 90,65.

I've read about these and they've had mixed reviews.

It's a replacement valve, not a pump though.

Waste of money.

If you want a higher fuel pressure you're welcome to my old fuel pressure valve which was getting a bit weak.  15mpg & sooty spark plugs but definitely no extra power.

You can't get more power from just adding more fuel, you need more air too. Once you've got more of each (in the right ratio) then you've got to get it into the combustion chamber which has been designed for a specific amount of air/fuel mixture.

Remember, each cylinder will only take in 571cc of fuel/air (based on a 3.5) at normal atmospheric pressure.

If it was that easy to get significantly more power don't you think BMW would have done it after spending millions on engine development?

Alpina only managed to add 25-40bhp with head, valve, cam & exhaust mods. That's a 19% increase over a standard 218bhp motor.

BMW went to the lengths of fitting a 24 valve head etc for a 31% increase.

Ok thanks for that. I thought it seemed a little
optimistic.

well, I was going to mention I think they did diddley squat - but some people sware by them.

You'd be better off spending the same amount on a remap or chip, least there will be an improvement.
