All depends on how badly you want one. That is top money especially if it's a private deal. WLN Automotive sell them at around this figure but they are the best in the land so to speak.

This one is a VERY late one on a J. It has to be absolutely spot on and pin striaght for this money. I would expect it to be one of the best in the country and if it is...............would it be practical to use every day in all weathers, possibly wrecking both it's condition and it's venerable value? Kept in cotton wool through the winter and only used sparingly in the summer it will retain it's value all day long. Use it every day and very soon it becomes the same as all the rest with a value to match.

Also it will need a valuation in order to insure it for the agreed value. Should it get damaged beyond repair a straightforward everyday policy will only pay out market value...........which people like direct line, admiral and the like would not see as £6k.

Only my opinion but hope it helps you.

Oh dear Nik, have we scared you off the 6-series?

I'd go along with Whiteys comments. £5900 is very stiff money for a Sport, especially with 85k on which is a bit high for the asking price. One of the guys in our club has a Sport which is very immaculate with similar mileage & he paid £4500 for it (iirc).

Speak to Andy Wilson at www.wlnautomotive.co.uk for his advice. He can source you a car to the spec you want. He has/has a J-reg 325 convertible for sale at £4950 which seems much better value.

Also try www.e30zone.co.uk for advice & cars for sale.

i paid 5K for mine (btw i am who andy is on about)

mine is fairly mint.....

5900 is exceptionally high and i wouldn't personally pay that much...there should be absolutly no rust and i mean no rust ANYWHERE for that money, as well as no previous issues with the cylinder head

no panel dings, paint scratches stone chips, no panel or door should be hung or aligned incorrectly.

interior should be immaculate and everthing electrical should work, it should be a manual for that money (auto's command less money) and should also have air con, obc, check panel, leather interior etc too.

there should be reasonably new suspension parts/bushes etc as well as things like brake lines, fuel lines in good nick, newish brake pads/discs, five immaculate wheels andnewish tyres.

in other words.....absolutly factory fresh

offer him 4.5K-5K max...other than that i would say that its slightly over priced in my honest opinion

hope that helps

heres some pics of mine to help you jusge what you should be looking for

Chris. Who coated / sprayed the inlet manifold on your's and what di they use. I fancy giving mine the Alpina look and although I've done the cam cover but I'm not that happy with the heat resistant black paint. I currently have the inlet manifold sitting on my bench at this very moment. Seems as good a time as ever!! Heres mine as it was before about 2 o'clock this afternoon!
