M635 Air Conditioning Fault

    My A/C failed last summer and I want to get it repaired before the car is used again. I want to change the compressor to one that can use R134 refrigerant and flush the pipework of the old oil. Has anyone done this? I have a working knowledge of A/C systems and have access to service tools. The evaporator coil has no pollen filter like modern systems so probably requires cleaning, has anybody accessed it without pulling half the dash out.
I have seen lots of posts for ungrading brakes on this site but all seem to require 17 inch wheels. I am not using the original TRX's having changed them for 15 inch BBS lookalikes from an E32 and do not really want to change them just yet. Any suggestions on replacement discs and front pads using these wheels would be appreciated.

	About the a/C conversion... I did it...a DIY conversion that makes you save a lot of money when you will have to recharge the system then I had access to a a/c machine for r12....if You flush system with r12 (you have to charge the system and then suck with the vacuum pump the r12 and the oil...at least 3-4 times)you will remove old oil deposits....I spent a lot for my four r12 charge and discharge ....but then I found no old oil in the system. Then I bought the kit for r12/r134 conversion from BMW(with also a new sticker)....new drier bottle, new orings (I changed every o-rings I found - read: every o-ring between two a/c pipesalso those I had not to remove for the conversion- in order to avoid leaks ),a new pressure switch and a connector adapter.. I charged with new r134 . the a/c is really cold.My friend took an other way: went to the dealer that only heated up the a/c compressor , drained the oil from the compressor then changed everything found in the conversion kit.my conversion was really more expensive but, in the end , more effective(under the italian sun my car is colder in any cndition. The cnversion is not quick , but is simple.if You use old r12 to flush the system it will be also expensive(I spent about 100 of your GBP only for the old gas....than 14� for the r134 recharge and 120 for the conversion kit). 	for the brakes, see http://bigcoupe.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2137 as for the AC, not all part numbers for the compressor are 134 compatible. there is a good post on a seven series website listing and detailing a lot of whet you need to know; I'll post a link if I can find it, but you'll find it googling BMW seven series and aircon or something I expect. Basically if you don't have a 134 compatible compressor you have to replace it, chance your arm, or fit a 'mixed gas' fill. Some on this forum have had their ac systems 'upgraded' thus for about 100 quid, so they say.... cheers

	My car has not a r134 A/C compressor, but it works...and it works really good.... if You want to change compressor with a r134 compatible.....is up to you. Francesco from Italy
