e46 smg problem

   the smg box was playing up,the number on the dash telling you what gear you are in kept flashing,then when driving it sometimes would let you put it into gear,foned up bmw dealer and found out it was because the bonnet wasnt shut properly!!! thought it was going to be big bucks to sort and it ended up being something as simple as that lol
i looked thro the manual and it never said anything about this problem,just thought id share this with other smg drivers as it is a common problem apparently
