hello ...ive recently bought my wife a sweet little 316 coupe (p reg july96)and wondered if any one could tell me if it is possible to reset the oil and service lights without buying a reset tool ..any help would be great ..jay

At your own risk!

Writeen for an E30 but should still apply to the E36:-

Where are you based? Someone near you should be able to lend you a reset tool. They're worth buying anyway- there's a draper one thats about £15 i think

I used the piece of wire on my E30 with no problems, but I can't get it to work on my E36. My pal has a reset tool so I use that!

I just get my oil / service done and my mechanic resets the lights for me!
Cats know your every thought.

But don't care.
