A friend of mine has a problem with the speedo on a E30 325i convertible. Basicly it sometimes work and othertime will do nothing.

Does anyone know of any common faults and how difficult is this likely to be to fix?

Oh yes, I know all there is to know about an intermittant speedo on an E30 M3

1/ Check the wiring and sensor on the rear axle.

2/ If they look ok, then you'll have to pull the speedo out from the dash and check all the contacts & plugs.

3/ If it still don't work, then resolder - carefully! - all the joints on the bl**dy thing - sorted mine!
