You're happy with what you've got, I wouldn't change either, unless I really wanted. If you're not sure dont do it!

Thats a question for the m power forum.

I suspect that an M3 probably requires speciallist servicing and as such might not be for the home mechanic.

Seen a lovely Evo thats a spit of my current car except for wheels & that mines got a boot spoiler... Getting very tempted. Having never owned anything as high performance as an M car will it need specialist servicing? I service all our cars myself & only put them into a garage when I can't do the job due to lack of specialist tools or can't get access in my garage. I know for resale & things its best to keep the s/h up but if memory serves Insp services are a small fortune on M cars.

328i is from West London? Then sitting on the M25 car park would probably justify this.

Seen a couple of nice evo's for around the nine grand mark, One only had 60k on it with a FBMWSH which is a must for me on an M car. Must say though that wood trim on the M3's is very off putting, looks blo*dy horrible. Never liked it on cars. Starting to lean towards an M3 due to the performance increase but the E39 I want has a telly in the dash... A widescreen telly!

P.s. I like gadgets in cars

A 540 is quick, but not quite as quick as an M3. Ok it has lots more torque but similar power in a much heavier car.

If I don't upgrage I was thinking of getting the BBTB & manifold conversion, a decent exhaust & Ind kit then a chip/remap. Cost a few grand for that lot but dunno if its worth doing, won't see much of that back on the resale & would still be putting out less than either of the new options.

Get on and modify it. You like your car, and know what bitties to buy - and there are many on the forum to advise from where, and so forth - as if you didn't already know or make a list of things (LOL).

The 328 has a lot going for it, and there are number of examples now connected to the club with 220+ bhp without serious engine rework, or bolt on blowers, NOS, etc.

If you sell & buy another car - how long before you 'pimp that ride' too?

I think you will find there is an E39 540i manual, there are probably a couple of manual 540i owners on here. The insurance on the 540 will be cheaper and will be as quick as the M3. Thats the way I would go, but must admit I would like to own am M car in time. Good luck with what you decide

for what its worth (opinions are like..... everyones got them ), i think that when you start spending serious amounts on modifications then you're just delaying the inevitable - you've answered your own question by wanting a change, and your current car will still be your current car whatever you do to it, a few months down the line you'll be wanting to change again and you'll never get the money back that you've spent on modifying

my advice would be to start looking for another car, don't throw good money after bad on your current one if you're fed up with it

I'd stick with the 328, with the extra power it will have a new lease of life.

Anyway, you'd have to change your handle, you can't be called 328i and drive an M3!
