I'm neither a fan of chromed rims nor of most aftermarket multi spoke designs on the 3 series... that said, the BMW Radial and Alpina styles are fairly classy.

I've got 7x17" wearing 235/40 tyres and they went on with no trouble at all and never rub the arches. Visually, the car does not need lowered at all to suit this size. Pix at http://www.newtongrove.demon.co.uk/bmwcc/car328i.html.

As for offset and pcd, I never even asked - the wheel/tyre reseller has all that information to hand - just pick a wheel style and ask them...

Try http://www.wheelmachine2000.de/index_d.htm to actually 'try' a similar car with various wheels styles.

HTH,

Duncan
