None of the above , PS3 for me  IMHO

Pros: Far superior in build quality, Graphics, storage and technology and also backwardly compatable with PS1/PS2 games (Nostalgia nights with the lads ). As mentioned 'Blueray' DVD with huge capacity for holding data of more complex games on the horizon, the more complex the game and graphics the bigger storage facility will be needed. Games for the system are also something to consider AFAIK GTA4 is only for the PS3 at this moment in time, but Rockstar Games are in discussion with Sony.

Asustek are manufacturing the units and are a very reputable, high quality PC component company which speaks volumes to me as I have used their components to build PC's since 1998.(with no faulty components to date after around 20 PC's built, small hobby )

The cons: Price at initial launch reported to be in the region of 600 Euro for a 60Gb Hard Disk and 500 Euro for a 20Gb Hard Disk.

Ouch... But I'm getting one anyway.

The Xbox 360 was pretty pricy when they first came out 6 months ago but it has come down in price lot's since. hopefully the PS3 does as well.

I don't know why I want one, I don't even have time to play my PS2 at the moment with a 4 month old daughter, 3 german cars to look after and my work schedule. lol.

The PS3 will have an integrated Blue-Ray DVD and prices are expected to be high (£450?)

The XBox will be an add-on

I have to admit GTA 3 is also a good source of stress relief but can get that on Xbox as well.

If your travelling around alot, I'd probably go PS2, as a new one will be the nice slimline job. For me it would be a choice of what games you want to play though - I wouldn't own a console that won't play GT4 - but that's just me!

and my vote swung it back to 50-50! - arn't you glad I came?

Thats true. I guess it is a matter of what you want to do. You can have an XBox 360 now or wait until Sony gets their finger out and releases the PS3.

Personally I am waiting for a PS3 but in the mean time I am still playing the PS2. I have added a hard drive to it and it makes load lot's faster and play smoother as well. Plus I already have a good few PS2 games and zero X box games so I could buy a 360 and all new games or buy a PS3 and just new games to go on top of my existing games.

The PS/X-Box option is 'cos I travel a lot and it means I can use it for gaming and watching DVD's wherever I may be.

Currently awaiting arrival of new graphics card and ram upgrade so I can run F.E.A.R on my pc - when I'm at home relaxing and not repairing fences, catching wayward foals after they've broken through the fences, devising ever more ingenious ways of keeping the chickens and ducks out of our vegetable garden and retreiving our pig from the Mairies' vegetable garden!!

Want a new laptop but that's below the new septic tank, completion of master bedroom, master bathroom, utility & tack rooms, landcruiser & horsebox on the list so I'm going to have to wait a wee while for that one!!

my ps2 could be for sale if you're interested, it comes with 8 games (including gt 4), a memory card and a logitech driving force pro force feedback wheel and pedals (the one designed for gt4 with 720 degree rotation - 2.5 turns lock to lock)

My personal opinion would have been a PS2 but since I've discovered pc gaming, the PS2 is now very redundant, except for the odd DVD that goes in!. I have heard the X-box 360 has the power of 4 decent Pentium chips though!  pc games just cannot be beaten though, and pc's are infinately upgradeable, just ask my wife and wallet! lol

Regards

Mike

X box 360. PS2 is old now and the graphics/AI are well off the pace.

PS3 should be good when it comes out although I wouldn't hold your breath...
