Ditch the run flats. Trust me. Your car will become a completely different animal, smoother, better handling and much less twitchy and possessed of a mind of its own.

Every Z4 owner I know has said it's like getting a new car for the price of the tyres.

PS: I have driven a Z4 before and after, and I've seen the exact same thing with the 1-series with and without RFT's -- they ruin the car's handling.

Spokey is right, ditching the tyres will change the handling, but whether its better or not is up to you to decide.

If you do ditch them, don't forget to pack a nice, heavy, spare wheel in the boot will you?

The most obvious place to get replacement tyres would be a Main Dealer, but bear in mind that they are supplied via local tyre companies and rarely BMW GB. Any half decent independent in your area should be able get them ordered in for you.

I ditched the run flats on my Z4 and all I can say is wow!! No more tramlining, harsh ride and dodgy wet handling. Dry handling is also better, there is no reason not to change. I was going to be over £920 to change all four from my dealer 2x 255 35 18 and 2x 225 50 18 and I got 4 Goodyear F1's for £440 off the web.

I keep a 12volt pump and a couple of cans of puncture foam just incase.

Go for it!
