My Evo is going to be needing front discs very soon, what would be the best set up to have? Any ideas of the best place to buy them, and an idea of prices of discs/pads?

I would imagine genuine m3 brakes would be as good as any unless you want to spend mega money on big brake upgrades

This is the set up I'm going for. Brakes are the weak link on both the E36 and E46 M3. Unless you track on a very regular basis, there is no need to go for a AP/Brembo/Stop-Tech set up. As far as the E46 is concerned, its been well tested and proven that big set-up's like those above, offer very little more in terms of stopping power than the standard single piston set up. What they do do far better, is get rid of heat and therefore do not fade as badly as standard set up. I think the same applies to the E36. I'm going for Performance Friction disc's and pad's, braided hoses and 5.1 fluid. This will be more than enough to cope with fast road conditions and the occasional track day. It will cost about a third of the price of a BBK and will not come with any of the other potential complications. If you are considering a BBK, make sure you have the clearence on the front wheels. Can't remember if you have ACS wheels but these often can't cope with bigger calipers and the last thing you want is to have to but a new set of wheels as well! Taken from BM3W.co.uk, see http://www.bm3w.co.uk/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Numb er=417780&an=0&page=0#417780 for a customer test of the performance friction set up. Sorry, don't know how to make the link smaller! HTH.

I put EBC Discs on, with Red Stuff Ceramic pads using standard Calipers n all the rest. I have cooked one of the brake discs after only 3-4000 miles but I am not sure if it because the air cooling duct was blocked by the cold air feed for the induction kit. It had fallen all the way through the hole I made and only noticed AFTER I fceked the disc! Ah well, live and learn eh.
