Are there any circumstances where it would be sensible to pay Ł1500 for a high mileage 1989 320i two door?

I've seen a nice one but they are asking that for it... and it isnt mint!

Does that seem stiff by today's standards?

That is pretty high...

Why do they think it is worth that?
What sort of extras does it have (if any)?

I paid Ł800 for a 1988 320i Auto a while ago (well, Ł500 and px my old knackerd 316 - which promply died on the new owner) wasn't a minter - in fact it cost me Ł450 for a recon auto box plus other bits and peices. Had 130K on the clock when I passed it on to Whiterider.

My origional 1985 316 cost me Ł150 with knackerd bodywork but with only 95K on the clock.

Does sound quite excessive. Why not do a search on autotrader?

The car has a full MTec kit (which I am sure is geniune), Hartge Badging, Geniune Hartge Wheels and a fantastic black M-Badged sports black leather interior...

Looks like sport suspension too...

But I don't think I'll bite as who needs that kind of thing for a daily smoker?!

Seems a bit steep to me fozzy, even with the Hartge goodies, but it still has that wheezy old M20, I'd keep looking mate, hope that helps.

Thanks for the advice chaps. I'm going to take it I think (the advice, not the car)...

It's getting trickier to find E30s. Most of the cheap BMWs on the 'trader are E36 or E34s. (Alot of people offering tarted up wrecks IMO - minefield at over Ł1000!!)

Sounds good, 325i is better on economy than 320i I think. If its been serviced regularly and in good nick bodywise then its worth a punt.

I regret getting the heap I bought - all the work that needed doing on it cost me a packet and I bought it of a mates nephew who gaurenteed the box had been done (which it hadn't). Should've looked around first.
