My E36 convertible is starting to sound like a bowl of rice krispies......since i have owned it(bought last February) I have noticed a rattle coming from somewhere close to the rear drivers side wheel, now its not affecting the driving, but it is audible with the windows/roof down. I have checked the brake disc gaurd, and anything else thats suspect and found nothing loose! What is going on!!!! LOL

The crackling.....is coming from the speakers, only when the radio is on and when i accelerate...its fine when a cd is playing, is this just a case of fitting a noise surpressor to the live feed to the head? Its a pioneer unit!

Or a bad earth on the head or amp. Check the earth and positive feeds. A good earth is just as important as the ++++

The rattle from near the wheel could be lots of things. Simple and cheap is the brake air duct coming loose. The springs can break, ball joints are routine replacements on the 3 series.

Crackiling only when the radio is on and when you are accellerating indicates that somehow the car is interfereing with the radio reception. Have you checked the quality of the arial connection in the back of the head unit? Anything like a bad earth would affect cd sound quality as well.
