OPT Drift Club would like to announce the 2003 D1 Finals which will be held on Sunday 12th October at Silverstone Race track, where we will be using Priory, Brooklands and Lufield to drift through..

This drift event marks the end of a very successful first year for the Drift Club and the Final competition of this year promises to be the best yet.

Anyone who went to the Autocar Sideways Challenge this year or attended a previous drift event will be able to verify that either spectating or participating in these kind of events is a lot of fun!

The day will start at 9am and run through to 5pm.

9am - 1pm Practice session

1pm – 2pm Lunch

2pm – 3pm Practice session

3pm – 5pm Competition and awards ceremony

We will allow roughly 40 cars to take part at this event so individual track time should amount to quite a few runs.

In the past we have had novice drivers taking part along side the professionals, so everyone is welcome to come and have a go..

Also we have been given permission to run with a dry track! Provided it doesn’t start to rain of course, However there will be a water truck on stand-by in case you can’t handle drifting in the dry. So now we should get to see some seriously fast drift action. Make sure you bring some good tyres!!

We have also been told that the PA system will be operational so the crowd can get to hear what’s going on.

We have been allocated the BRDC grand stand so there is plenty of room for spectators.

The on-site restaurant will be open from 8.30am – 5pm.

I’ve also been asked to remind everyone that you need a helmet whilst on track and passenger rides are fine during the practice sessions. There are a very limited number of helmets to borrow from Silverstone so its advisable to bring your own.

If you fancy taking part then book your place now! The day will cost you £95 in advance or £120 on the day and spectators will pay just £5 each at the gate.

Prizes up for grabs.

1st place will receive a £400 Road Angel Radar detector, £300 worth of HKS vouchers and a barrel of 76 racing fuel.

2nd place will receive £150 worth of HKS vouchers and a barrel of 76 racing fuel.

3rd place will receive £50 worth of HKS vouchers and a barrel of 76 racing fuel.

4th place will receive HKS Merchandise and a barrel of 76 racing fuel.

5th place will receive HKS Merchandise and a barrel of 76 racing fuel.

As well as some stunning trophies for the top five drifters.

We realise that there is another event on the same day at Santa Pod but I'm sure you'll find it much more thrilling to go sideways at Silverstone than going in a straight line at Santa Pod, the choice is yours!
