I've finally got myself a first BMW (96' E36) over the weekend and have been looking at this forum and find it has very useful information.

I like cars so much and definitely would like to do a lot of DIY for my car but probably like most of you because of work plus I can only park the car on the public road I find it really hard to get around with it.

I have some concern with my new car already that I found there's some rattling noise coming from the front left wheel if I hit the wheel hard from the side or if closing the left door. It sounds like something loosen somewhere near the wheel. Pity I couldn't notice it when having the test drive as the car I have to say is so quiet while on the move (compare to my last car!).

Any idea what could that be and will it be expenive to repair? :(

Welcome to the forum.

Did you buy privately or from a garage?  If a garage, bring the rattle back to them to sort.

Enjoy your new car.

probably the anti-rattle clips on the front pads.

drop over some bumps to replicate the noise. now go back over them this time applying the brakes.

if you get no noise - viola!! anti rattle clips

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone

I'll try to take some pic in the weekend if possible.

I've tried the little trick you mentioned Eamo but still the same. It's not a big loud noise but you do hear it when punch to the tire. Unfortunately there's no warranty as I bought it off privately.

it could be a ball joint or a loose caliper. you would really need to get it looked at.
