The jig just looks like one of the skirts, but is made from very flimsy plastic, and I wouldn't attempt to fit the skirts without it, unless you were going to bond them on permanently which i wouldn't advise.

They're not expensive, about €12, the most expensive part of the lot is the rubber strip that funs a long the top of the skirt, somrthing like €25 + VAT each.

If i can find mine, you can borrow them.

All e36s can be fitted with M3 side skirts, but I would avoid the ones in your second ebay link, as these are not original, not ABS plastic and don't seem to have any holes for the jacking points.

To fit the original side skirts, first you you need a jig, part no.51.71.2.250.003 ( this is for one side, can't remember which side, but the other side part no. is the same but ends .004 ), this is used to mark the points on the sill where holes must be drilled, 11 along the side of the sill, 9mm diameter ,7 underneath 6.5mm diameter, and 2 at the back of the sill, facing your rear wheel,5mm diameter, all per side.

Into the 11 holes you fit little green gromets part no. 51.71.1.932 996 22 in total and annoyingly they come in packs of 20.

Then the main clips that hold the skirts to the car, 51.71.2.234.032 are cliped into the green gromets along the side of the sill and the skirts can be pushed on.

Then you can fit the plastic rivets to the under side of the skirt, part no.51.11.1.908.077  and the other rivets to the rear edge of the skirt  part no. 51.16.1.881.149.

Oh almost forgot,  along the top edge of the skirt you need a rubber strip, which must be fitted after painting , but before the skirts are fitted, part no. 51.71.2.234.044.

Pretty easy really, and if you are fitting them you may aswell remove your old painted over jack hole covers ,as the skirts have them any way.

With regard to using a trolley jack under the car, as  Alex has said, the black plastic discs may have fallen out, you should be able to see 4 sort of oval holes, 1 at the front of each sill and 1 at the back of each sill, almost under the jack points that are painted over on your car.

Not sure about the skirts fitting directly but there are already jacking points
under the car so you can use a trolley jack with no problems. There sould be
rubber protector disc thingys under the car (about 3 inches in diameter and
about an inch deep) that you put the trolley jack under. These can fall off
but you can buy new ones and they clip in.

hello all.

am i right in thinking that an m3 side skirt would cover over the 'skirt' i already have??

i've read elsewhere on the net that all e36 m3 skirts fit all other e36s. is this true?

if so, will either of these work out for my car? my car has the circular jacking point covers on the front face but they've been painted over. Consequently, they're stuck and can't be undone- i was going to adapt the cill underneath for use with a modern jack anyway.

should i be worried about clips or brackets etc.?

will either of these do the trick?

anyone have any other advice?
