You can now insure your pride and joy on the circuit for a modest £25 per event via the club office.

£25 is the cost if you are insured with Aon, one of our club insurers. Other companies may have different charges. As to whether it applies in Ireland - it should do, but please ask your insurance company first.

The club has joined the Association of Track Day Organisers (I hope that is the exact title - may not be) and there is some insurance to be had from them. However, all Better Driving Day Organisers will be circulated with the relevant information as it becomes available, so the best person to speak to is whoever is organising the day. Don't ask them just yet, as they probably will not be able to answer you.

To be honest, I don't know.
The cover is arranged by AON who advertise in the magazine.
If you need to speak to them, make sure they transfer you to the Dudley office.. I am sure one of the guys there will help.

Nick

No good, if I were to get a trackday policy I would need to take out a full years policy for the road aswell.

Sorry for the dud info.. I was only relaying what I had been told.

FWIW I have been with AON as a club member for many years and they have always looked after my trackday requirements as part of my policy.

If you insure your car with Aon, as I do, they will give you cover for track days for £25 per event. They used to do it for free but, but due to the number of accidents they have experienced around the country, a charge is now made. You have to ask permission and pay the money. You must get it sorted at least a week before your track event to get cover. If you need documentary evidence of your cover, then they need two to three weeks notice to ensure that you get it on time. Depending on where you live, or your 'track record', they may not give you cover at all.

It is likely that Club events on track will shortly need documentary evidence of cover before you are allowed to take part. I think that is reasonable, as I would not like my car to be damaged by somone and then find that I have to pay for it myself. Same applies if I were not insured and damaged someone else's car. What I have not mentioned, is that even when you pay for the cover, you still have to pay for the first £1500 of any claim, so if you cannot afford to pay up, then don't bother to come on the track.

There are many other companies who will give cover besides Aon, so ask around.

We hope to be able to arrange better driving days where the insurance is included in the price. (first £1500 of any claim excluded). What do you guys out there think about that?

ive been trying to get my insurance co , to provide trackday insurance but they arent interested ! im sure a lot of people are having the same problem .

i think if you can organise track days which include insurance most of us would be prepared to pay a little extra  !  just for peace of mind , knowing that everyone has at least some insurance takes the pressure off a little bit and makes the day  a little more enjoyable !!!

I like the idea of insurance included in the price but would like to understand what wouldn't be covered. Hopefully a bulk buy would lead to lower costs for everybody.

I have used Competition Car Insurance in the past, about £90 with a £1800 excess but that was for the M5 so the price should be less for the M3 as it is all down to value. They don't cover the engine and gearbox and I think something else is excluded but can't remember what. I'll dig out the docs, I think I still have them somewhere.

Howard , Its the way AON implemented their NEW Stealth charge, and proceedure requirement.Nothing has been advised to regular policy holders, who have advised them of track use in the past. The excess goes up each time one contacts them. They also forget to advise their policy holders , BEFORE they pay the Premium, that the policyholder, is NOT insured for a third of each 24Hrs ie--between 10pm-06-00 am, if not garaged.Does this mean the premium is a third less???.No one objects to the £25 charge(at the moment), its the manor in which it is done

A Club Better driving Fee, with insurance included sounds good, subject to just how much??.Entrance fees are getting unrealistic on some circuits , and if too high, will see the end of them.Lets Hope the club gives the new insurance to a Company which will Support Club Members , with classic cars.Heritage Insurance, in club magazine, include Free Club Track use.

The BMW CC GB, must implement more of a "Better Driving Content" in the our Track days, as it has in past days. After a track day, one must return to the REAL world of public  roads. Our advanced performance driving days, at places like MillBrook, were well attended and enjoyed, and most importantly, made a lasting impression on the drivers. If we as a Club wish to receive support in our future, we need to encourage to-day.
