i test drove a "stunning" WRX Subaru Impreza tonight ...  got-to admit i was not a big fan of "scoobys" but i'm a changed bloke after tonight

took it to a local test track and i was given the all clear to "nail it" in no time at all it was a touch over 150,  it's got quite a bit done to it and come's with a print out proving it's 308 BHP "at the wheel's!" (about 360 at fly wheel) the spec sheet for this car is crazy! .. running a 2.5 legacy block, built by it's present owner

receipts adding to more than Ł6K on work and he want's Ł4600 for the car

but after a bit of thinking (& my wife telling me about how quick i'd loose my licence), i think i'll keep my E39 and set about cleaning it up

Trust me my mate has one and the novelty soon wears off.. Especially the MPG figures and service costs.. But nice to have the power and 4wd.. Lol.

did you see me?

kind of crapped myself as i was reaching the top roundabout! heading down the straight toward's it at a touch over 130 and seen 2 bright yellow jacket, white topped hat wearing folk .. standing on the roundabout! "O crap!! are they checking speed" slowed down (uprated brake's worked well) entered the roundabout and sitting parked on the R/bout where about 5 big police van's, armed police truck and a couple of traffic car's turn's out they where waiting for the trident convoy heading to faslane/coulport.

got to agree, they are fun but once your use to the power and that lovely sound ... you'd soon want rid and get something comfy again.

Aren't they about the same size as an Escort inside, and a bit plasticky as well?

of course it was

being honest i see scooby's as a modern day MKII escort .. they are everywhere, bag's of fun and no doubt in yrs to come folk will pay silly money for the rare/limited model's. i went for another look at it this morning but for all i liked it i just can't see me ever owning one?

think i'll just keep my plan's to buy a E39 M5 later ... once ive got me a E30 convertable

My mate just sold his 99 5door scooby for Ł5100 two days ago. He is now running an E46 330d immaculate in silver. He certainly doesn't miss the servicing/poor mpg...

I've got a McRae era '95 JDM WRX and I can safely say I never tire of it

It's just so sharp & tight despite it's age.  I just can't fault the grip, handling & power.  Bang for buck it's got to be as good as it gets.

Admittedly the mpg is poor, but that's no real surprise, and servicing is way cheaper than an Evo!
