From the images I've seen I think the coupe looks too much like a Micra CC or a Tigra CC.  I do think the 3 door looks fairly neat though.  A 130i 3 door will be the next e30 325i Sport in a few years.

Now: BMW 523i SE '00, 318i SE - e91 '07, 325i Coupe '93.

Prev:
e46 328i SE Touring, 330Ci, 318Ci.
e39 523i SE.
e36 325i Coupe *2, 323i SE, 316iSE.
e30 325iSE 2dr, 320i Conv, 320i 2dr, 316i.

I agree on that D - the 130i 3 door is a nice looking thing. I think it's a real pity that BMW didn't release the 3 door and 5 door together, given how hum drum the 5 door is.

Not just do they look like other marque's models but they name them after other marque's models

Like the the 130 is named after a big (very big) FIAT and before that we had the 323 named after a Mazda. Mazda also had first use of a names for possible M powered X5 and X3 versions

There are probably more examples

It reminds me of the 2002. I never liked the hatch but I must say I do like this.

After seeing the 135i in the flesh in Denmark I must say I think it's fantastic; compact, stylish (and powerful). The larger wheels and lowered suspension looks really good on it. I want one!

A Horrific looking car, keeping on the Mazda theme, it looks like an old early 90's 121 - that stunted read end. Anything that can make this look better would be amplified on the 3-door, it's a much nicer looking car. All in all the 1 series is not practical, it's a hatchback, but in doing hatchback things, focus, astra, golf are better and cheaper.

Taste is such a funny thing; I notice that in my native DK the M-B CLS is widely considered the worst looking Mercedes, EVER! Again - I think it looks fantastic and is one of their best...

I can , of course, see what people mean about the 1 Coupe and the Mazda but I also think the 121 had a certain quirky cuteness.

I think a coupe by definition should be short in the rear and think that the current 3 Coupe gets it wrong by being too long in the boot, so to speak (a bit like the Jaguar coupes); presumably something about golf-clubs.

I also think the 1 Convertible is a cracker (if only the weather was better!).

I see what you mean, the CLS is a stunner - inside as well.

Golf clubs, right on that one. So, both coupe's the proportions are wrong, one too long and one too short.........the 1'er would possibly be prettier if the roofline was lower - give it a better profile. The 121 was cute, but cute should equal cheap, not the prices BMW are charging. Hopefully the prices drop like a stone, so as a used buy, who cares what it looks like as long as it goes like stink !

I had a loan of a 116i ES from my local dealer a couple of weeks back and found it a pleasant enough car.  Power was quite limited but the handling was quite promising.  I can only imagine that with a bit more power and torque (assuming no great additional weight over the front wheels), to allow steering by throttle, it would be quite useful on a backroad sprint - in the same vein as an e30.

However, the dealer had a 120d coupe in the showroom with a few options fitted and a price of euro54,000!  The price is complete madness!  That's about the same price as my 330Ci was new a few years ago.

Now: BMW 523i SE '00, 318i SE - e91 '07, 325i Coupe '93.
