I am after a decent mechanic or garage in the North West to do some work on my 1602. Can anyone recomend an individual or garage?

If you can get to Stockport try Baymow in Hazel Grove 0161 456 1114. Theres a 10% reduction for club members and they are spot-on. They have worked on all my BMWs and I would recomend them to anyone.

I've found BM-Tec in Manchester a good and knoledgeable garage, they've helped me put the engine in my E28 528i back together.  I did the work and they advised me.  I take both my BM's there for MOT's and jobs that are beyond the scope of the home mechanic(how Haynes manuel).  Phone No. 01618341951.  If you phone, ask for Andy.

Jonathan, Manchester.
