My mum took my car to work this morning, so I got left with the 118d MSport.  I had to fit the new mats to the car, so that involved extracting the carpets and then fitting the mats.  Meh, Ill give it a wash as well..  Just a wash :D

So many hours later :D  Im finished.  Just in the door at 00:45!

First of all the car was foamed with super snow foam through a autobrite foam lance and left to dwel for 5 mins.  I then rinsed the foam off and washed the car using the 2 bucket method.  The amount of crap that came off the car was unbelievable :D

I then clayed the bonnet of the car using Sonus ultra fine detailing clay.  This wasnt cutting it.  This was the first time the car had been clayed in the 2 months since it was delivered from the dealer.  The clay was not a bad colour, but it was still grainy.  Ive often said that the fine clay is a good clay for frequent use, but for first time use it doesnt have the abraisives to cut it.  I prefer megs clay or poorboys clay as they are more durable. So no point in doing the rest of the car with it.... Ill have to do it again soon with better clay :D

The car was then coated in Zymol HD Clense.  There were no swirls at all on the car, which was quite surprising since it went into the dealers for a new door (not a respray thank feck) when some old bint reversed into the drivers door!  So obviously they didnt clean it as there were no dealer swirls.  Woo!!

The car was then coated in Zymol Titanium, Some by hand and the rest by applicator as it was using too much wax :D

The engine bay was prepped with Chemical guys Natural shine and the paint work coated in Zymol titanium by hand.

The door shuts were cleaned with megs fine cut cleaner and then coated in Colinite 476s

The exhaust was cleaned using p21s metal polish soap... Pic tomorrow!

The leather was treated using Jewelultra diamondbrite leather protector, this will then be topped by BMW leather feed that I got from the dealers.

Nice work Allan, mind you, a 2 month old car, it's not like you had your work cut out is it?!! lol

Seriously though, it's all worth it in the end, the last time I detailed my car took me in excess of 6 hours (picture in my sig) so I know how you feel. There's no way I'd have done another 1, let alone 2 more cars afterwards though.

Anyway, I thought you had to let a new car 'settle in'?

Let the paint harden, all the glue to set, and

to get dirty before you cleaned it

Cats know your every thought.

But don't care.

TBH I was quite pleased with this one.  The other cars I have done recently were and absolute ****   So not having to do much, well I say much it was still 7 - 8 hours work was great.

Deswirling an E30 M3 in Red n December is NOT Fun   But it was like a mirror when it was finished and back to being the Garage queen it went apparently.

As for you pink man.  You shuld never let a car get dirty

Looking very nice and a lot of hard work well done.

Quick question though - why did you choose Titanium?  I'm going to guess you either already had it or it was bought specifically as a long lasting winter coat.  Just wondered, because of course you'd get a much deeper shine with a different and similarly priced Zymol product.

It's certainly the best Zymol product for longevity though and I was just curious as to its choice.
