Hi all
new to this forum. Have a 95 E34 540i auto, for the last couple of months i've been getting false warning messages from the on-dash display, tail light, dip beam etc, although the lights are perfect. Research tells me that the issue is a well known fault in a unit called the LKM, and that it can be repaired if you're handy with a soldering iron (i'm not) or replaced with a new / reconditioned unit. Was wondering if anyone here knows where i can lay my hands on a new one ? Or anybody know someone within shouting distance of Longford in Ireland who can fix mine ? Regards XDA |

Id have a look at the fusible link under the back seat first, and or, the wires in the boot where they go round the hinge are a favourite for snapping inside their insulation,

Hi xda - welcome to the forum. (I'm half Longford-ish!)
Anyhow, failing John's suggestion, you could get one from Traynors |

XDA, I've got an LKM module if you need one, however I would have thought you would need another Check Control Module (CCM) rather than the LKM. I've also got a 100% working CCM here as well, but it came out of an early car (e34 525 1990). Let me know if interested Paul |

Nope Just bits I've managed to acquire to try and sort out my broken angel eyes on the previous car. They didn't cure the problems but worked so I kept them back! Paul |

Do you fancy meeting up at Duxford for our meet on sunday - I could always bring down my spare LKM unit and CCM module. The details are in the East Anglia Area of the forum Nice to see another e34 540 owner fairly close by!! Welcome to the forum Paul |
