Has anyone tried one of those halfords water ioniser wotsits that are supposed to stop you getting those horrid water marks when you wash the car ?

Or any other suggestions ?

Best Wishes

Like buses, they come along in two's.

Right, lets start again..........in places other than Ireland or Scotland we sometimes have warm weather.......this causes the car to dry a little quickly, when its very warm, whilst you are still washing other bits of the same car.

This leaves horrid water marks, which are what I'm asking about.

NO I can't always wait until its dark, NO I can't stop it getting dirty,.................

can anyone tell I'm nearing my first ciggie less day ?

Best Wishes

Nigel

when I wash the car I tend to keep it as damp as I can so that I can dry it all in one go. Works for me!

This is far cheaper than an Ioniser but haven't used it yet.

or this guide how to wash and dry your car by a forum sponsor drying with a microfiber towel.

There are a few products available on the market that fit on to your hose pipe like this

http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/Store/Product/ProductDeta ils.aspx?ProductId=117 and they get good reviews on detailing world

You could also try and buy De Anodized water from rinsing (use a watering can to sheet rinse)

I usually wash my car in the sunlight at the moment as thats as when I only get time to do it etc.

I tend to keep the hose running, and after I have washed 2-panels each time, I grab the hose and shower the car.  I just do this until the whole car has been washed and then wet the whole thing once again whilst I run inside to grab the drying cloth.  Hard work but it works.

Cheeky git!  Been sunny up here and seriously scorchio too!

Seriously, keep the car wet when you wash it. Hose the car down completely, wash one panel at a time as per the two bucket method but when you go to rinse that panel, give the whole car another soaking and keep it all wet.

It also helps when rinsing the car to use a garden hose with no attachments whatsoever, just the end of an ordinary hose, this makes the water run off in sheets from the panels.  Sprays or jets are not as effective for letting water run off.

Also using a decent car shampoo (and of course having the car polished) will help make the water run off the car.

When I finish washing my car I quickly run round with an old hand towel to dry up the water that is still on the car.

You have a dark coloured E34 don't you so I suppose it will be more noticeable with water marks.

Have a read at the Polished bliss web site.  They are very helpful.

If, after the suggestions above.  Use a quick detailer to spritz one panel at a time.  Wipe the quick detailer off, removing the water marks and giving a good finish
