whrrr noise when oil cap is opened

   Hi all
can you help me with a whrrrring noise on my 1999 E39 523 when ever i open the oil filler cap or pull up the dipstick i have also noticed it when i accelerate and when i turn the engine off the engine itself is running very smooth not like alot of other posts i searched i only ask because i hope there is no unfiltered air being sucked in!! i dont want to screw up my engine any help would be great ta??

	The engine runs under a vacuum and when you open the filler cap or dipstick you are removing the vacuum. However, this air does not get into the pistons so don't worry.

	I know that engines make a certin noise and the revs change when you open the oil cap but not this loud i have had alot of cars and a 96 523 and it never made this noise there is air being sucked in some where under the inlet manifold i read a few posts about oil seporator being faulty but not to sure where to look?? when i say whrrr noise its nearly like something plastic vibrating Edited by Dazz
