hi everyone.

I am new around here. a little bit about myself. I had a 96 318is a couple of years back in england and then came home and got into mk2 escorts had one of them for two years and now going back to BMW! I am going to look at 2 E36 323 coupes tonight! I was hoping some of you guys can give me any advice on what I should look for in these cars! Any common faults, problems?

Any help appreciated

1st off check if its on the original nikasil block. Not necessarily a problem if it is but if it is then with the car ticking over open the drivers door wide and the bonnet and see if there is excess vibration along the top of the glass on the door window or the silver veins along the top of the engine cover.

You can also tell by looking down the right hand side of the engine and back theres a lug thats different on the nikasil and alusil engines...do a search on here, the photos are around somewhere.

Also worth checking for rust along the wheel arches and the door and bootlid edges.

Usual stuff on from there, panel gaps, tyre wear, suspension etc.
