hi been lingering in 3 series forum for a bit now and after recieving replies from www.bmwe21.net i'm getting together knowledge and ideas on where to go and what to do to our 316 1.8 e21. was told to run by you guys on hints/tips to recondition and modify the 1.8 m10 engine? use different heads or bottom ends off other bmw's? want to gain more power simply, while in the process of reconditioning. (twin 40's?)

We are also planning to look into a swap for the 318is engine. (might be too dear).

thanks.

I've got a weber twin choke conversion kit if you're interested. Best bet long term is a two litre bottom end , (with flat top pistons to use your existing head) or complete transplant. I got 90hp and 97 lb/ft (at wheels) from a 320i 9.2:1 engine with light porting and a ford dgav carb on a 320 twin choke downdraft manifold. got 35mpg too!

are you talking about a 4 pot 2.0 engine? as found in the e21, as e30 are all 6 pot?  the flat top pistons come in the 2.0 engine or are in our 1.8? so uve got urself around 120bhp at the fly?? thats good. we're after twin 40's for induction though twin-choke is a good back-up or plan b. project is very long term so anything that'll keep our hunger satisfied without breaking the bank. thanks for reply mate; let me know what u meant.
