Hi

I got 2 wiper arms from fabdirect, thanks for the advice

However I have them on and now the driver side wiper stops in the middle of the window. The passenger side goes off the window altogether. and then also stops in the middle of the window, irregardless of where it starts from.

I have tried everything to align them. I am now running with just the drivers side stopping in the middle of the window and no passenger wiper.

I noticed that if I run the passenger side with no drivers side attached, the motor seems to go down first and then up

I am obviously missing something simple...( he says hopefully)

Is this one for Richie and the boys?

By the way the drivers side wiper arm was a bitch to get off..

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Brian

Just  turn the wipers on and where they don't work properly lift them of and fit them they way they should line up.

Tried that, let the wiper run without the arms attached, let them stop normally and tried to fit them in the down position.

Turned them on and hey presto the went to move down and nearly broke( went into the bonnet.

I have tried every combination at this stage.....

Is the wiper mechanism correctly aligned or could the arms have gone on the wrong side of the pinion?

I have a strong suspician that when FAB took the wiper arms off the donor car, that they bent them, as they are extreamly hard to get off. Even a small bend will make them useless as the tolerance for the wipers to clear the bonnet are very small.

I had the exact same problem on my E36. I bought a brand new wiper arm from BMW and it worked forst time. They are not that expensive from the dealer.

The arms are fine, I think it is anadjustment thing.

And to say they are not that expensive from a dealers is not quite correct.

JD wanted €217 + vat for 2 new arms. fab sorted me out for €37

Well then you just need to line them up properly. It is not that difficult.

I paid Ł17.62 for a brand new E36 wiper arm from David Prentice in Portadown.

It would help if you stated what kind of BMW you own.
