Happy days Denis you've made my day   My assumption was Chris was going to be chief tacho (director of design) over all of the BMW group. The new Chief Designer Adrian vanHooydonk was on the M1 concept (I liked) and behind the e65 with Bangle (hmmm)

Without diluting Adrian VHs ability, skill, and contribution to date, Bangle leaving BMW is a huge and profound loss to the company.

He had great insight, saw beyond cars, and his range of interests and openness to form around him inspired some great road cars and fantastic concepts.

It'll be interesting to see what he turns his hand to - industrial design has not seen the last of him I wager. He could just be on garden leave and will take up a role in the car industry again.

Did Bangle not get some other more pen pusher type role in BMW in the last year or two?  Still with design in the title as I recall but not not hands on.

Now: BMW 523i SE '00, 318i SE - e91 '07, 325i Coupe '93.

Prev:
e46 328i SE Touring, 330Ci, 318Ci.
e39 523i SE.
e36 325i Coupe *2, 323i SE, 316iSE.
e30 325iSE 2dr, 320i Conv, 320i 2dr, 316i.

Spot on, Bangle became director of Design for BMW AG, with Adrain VH took over the chief designer role, the new 7 series is his baby also think he also had a hand in designing the X6.

Spotted one of these at my local dealer the other day.  Hints of Maserati Quattroporte to my eye.
