Ah but the British would do it at once, they are very good at implementing demented EU legilastion.

And of course it would cut down on road deaths, as most people wouldnt be allowed to drive anymore.!

So in the interest of public safety....not forgetting all the extra revenue from the test fees...it would be in before Christmas.

Best Wishes

To be quite serious, a lot of people would find it very difficult indeed, the test would be the least of thier expenses, the training to drive to whatever the latest fad is would be the expensive bit.

yes me too, and it would iron out nasty habits you get into, and maybe even lower insurance in a better way than pass plus, if it was done differently mind

Daddy Cool, and dbanbery

Ever thought about the advanced test ?

I have mine next Monday, pass or fail it has been a lot of fun to do, the whole lot including tuition costs £85, its a bit cheaper if your under 21.

I can be honest and say it has improved my driving, just hope I can pass the dam test.

The main website is www.iam.org.uk

From there you will be able to access your local group, wherever that may be.

Best Wishes

You use your own car, I've actually used my vectra estate, as the bm is auto, and I wanted to do manual, and I didnt want to get salt and grot all over my new paintwork.

You arrange a time and day to suit you and your appointed observer.

I did 5 sessions, a pre test check, two more sessions, and now test.

Each session lasted 1 - 2 hours.

Best Wishes

I have had some defensive driving training through work which was run by the Institute of advanced motorists and I have to say it is very usefull, in fact I think that all drivers should be made to do something similar within the first few years of driving.

I also think a test every ten years is a great idea. It would get rid of all those idiots who passed there test in the days when you practically only had to turn up to pass. Has anyone else noticed how many drivers don't know how to indicate on a roundabout. I've almost been caught out a few times by a driver indicating to go round when he's actually going straight over. Also even noticed how many drivers don't look to see if a junction is clear until they have reached the give way line and stopped. This morning some idiot in front of me stopped at every roundabout even though in most cases you could see that the road was clear before you got there.

Sorry about the rant, having a bad day

I work for a company called Huntsman Petrochemicals. Anyone in the company who does any driving at all on company business is required to do a half day training every year. It covers things like position of the car in the road when cornering, safe overtaking and increasing general awareness of whats going on around you. I have found it very helpful especially in helping me to anticipate incidents before they happen and avoid them.

I also got a chance to do some skid pan training as well. That was an eye opener. Should be useful when the weather gets colder and we get some proper ice on the roads

An example of an MOT test - I bought a 3 series coupe from a main dealer and they gave it a fresh MOT. The next year the dealer did the MOT again and the car failed - not on the mechanics but because the digits on the front number plate were not properly spaced! Funny thing was that they replaced the front plate when I bought the car cos it was cracked! You can imagine my reaction when I went to collect the car !!!!!
