Knocking sounds like Rear Trailing Arm Bushes

Diff leak could be the Gasket between the Diff casing and the rear cover, or if its just out of the drain plug a copper washer could be the culprit.

Knocking from the rear could also be rear strut top mounts? these can be replaced with E46 M3 Cab ones for a bit more support.

RealOEM can now be avoided as it is available via my site and listing parts that are in stock. There is also a price finder from this too, so no need to go from one site to another. A one stop shop!

i was looking under the bmw today and its got new springs and shocks. but stil got this knocking sounds from the rear both sides!! . go over a bump and bang etc etc. driving me nuts now. also as for the diff it looks like its coming from the top of the diff then driping down.

and to top it all of the engine is flat like bogging down. just been serviced aswell. i think its fuel as its so slow at reving and moving.

my mate just got a e36 318is coupe the same as mine and i cant keep with it. 1lt corsa's are leaving me of the lights

all i want is some nice power well somethink so im not the slowest car on the road.

the diff is all fix was a seal on the drain plug. the engine has just be tuned up was over fueling got that fixed also added a k&n pan filter with a cold air feed removed the standard bmw one runs 10times better and its faster:)

as for the banging sound its still going :( and my car is sitting 1cm lower on the right rear than the left rear :( looked at the springs and there are fine. only 4months old and shocks. also the car is becoming hard the drive now the rear dont seem right had the car at the local garage but he couldnt see no faults.

need a list of wait it could be so i can order parts and try and find this fault!

its like a rattle banging sound :(  help please

The rear trailing arm will be connected from your rear hun, and its the long rigid thick arm that connects to the underside of the body of the car. Where it mounts into the body of the car, the bush is held in a little cage like effort, and can be a pain to remove if never been done, but easier if you got ramps to raise the car and get yourself under it proper.

If youve changed the exhaust lately, it maybe related to that, as I changed mine and took a few attempts to get it right and stop it knockin on underside of car.
