Hi,

I am fairly new to BM's, and have done most repairs to my E30 myself, but i aquired a 7 series, and am thinking of going to Manor Garage in Altrincham for it's repairs and servicing, anyone know if this is a good idea or not?

I cant wait for your replies!!

Many thanx in advance.

Hi Fraser, not too sure about Manor..as far as I know their mainly into car sales most of which come from local dealers (the cars that don`t pass the 100 point check etc at the main dealer) mainly good cars.
But like I say thats their forte selling them..

With a big beast of a 750iL I`d go to either Autotechnic which is Blue Bell in Alti. or Baymow in Stockport..both guys are BMW trained at Baymow, need I say anymore.

Hi Kev,

Thanx for that info, I have not been into Manor, with the exeption of gazing longingly through their window.

Baymow  sounds favorite then, i take it they are sound guys? Hope the servicing costs arn't too high But she will be worth it. Cost doesnt scare me too much, Just cant stand getting ripped off!

I'll surley give them a try Thanx once again!!

I take my 840Ci to Autotechnik in Old Trafford. Quite happy with the service so far. They solved a niggling oil leak problem for me. Their labour charges are cheaper than main dealer although there is no curtesy car.

I wouldn't recommend Autotecnic in Old Trafford to anyone. Worst enemies included!! After the hassles i've had trying to get the errors cause by their 4Plus mechanics rectified and the general malaise of the employees within the Williams Group despite letters to the Dealer Principle, i found the whole experience rather offensive.

Just my 2p.

Hi Fraser

I have used Manor Garages (the one on Wharf Road, off Navigation Road - I'm not sure if that's the same as the dealership on Manchester Road) for my 1995 520i and they were fine. It's a couple of guys who seem pretty dedicated an knowledgable.  Oh, and reasonably priced! I can't remember how much they charged for a new radiatorfitted and associated top up of fluids and general once-over, but it was OK.  And the first time I used them, to replace an exhaust bracket under the car, they did it for a tenner!

I bought my car from the dealership, and they are connected, but I'm not sure whether it's better to contact the garage direct.

Good luck - it's always a bit of a lottery!

Mike

Fraser, I've used Baymow very recently and they were great. No complaints at all. In fact if you check some earlier posts on this forum you'll see a topic related to them.
