E23 break lights

   Hello all E23ers
My E23 is back on the road after a very, for me, expensive MOT.
When I turn the ignition on the rear break light LED check light comes on, foot on break pedal and they go out. At night time the CHECK flashes all the time, bloody irritating. The rear light plugs and earth on rear panel are all clean and in very good condition.  I used an aerosol electrical contact cleaner and the damn CHECK light still flashes.
Anybody out there knows how to fix this problem
