I'm fairly sure that there is an airport bus that leaves from Waverley Bridge. Get off the train at Waverley and walk towards the vehicle ramps this is the ramp where the taxis access the station concourse (just follow the black hacks up and out of the station), at the top of the ramp you are on Waverely Bridge, cross over the road and you will be at all the bus stops. You will get an airport bus from there. 1 hour will be plenty. Of course thanks to the sodding SNP you can't travel by train to Edinburger airport as they cancelled the sodding Edinburgh Airport Rail Link (E.A.R.L) and they cancelled the Glasgow Airport Rail Link (G.A.R.L) so we as in Network Rail are now delevering something else which has amongst us Engineers is being known as the Paisley Improvement Service Scheme (P.I.S.S) a.k.a Ayrshire Renfrewshire Service Enhancements (A.R.S.E) |

1 hour-ish should be fine BUT Edinburgh hates cars ergo road traffic can be a royal PITA. Half of the city centre is still SANFU'd by the tram works so, my personal preference would be to allow a little more time if possible. I hate rushing for air travel...

Pete - If you coming down from Aberdeen by Train I would suggest to you not to go into Waverly but if your train stops at the Gyle Station, get off there and you can get a taxi to the airport approx 10 mins away. Edinburgh is a nightmare for traffic depending what time of day/day of week you are going to arrive. We came out to the gyle this morning from waverly part of town and it took 50 mins in a taxi. I think an hour might be tight especially if the tram works restart! Says here the bus takes 25 mins! Hrmmm Give me a shout if you need any more info! Edited by Issy |

If the train goes through Haymarket, the Aberdeen train will, you might want to get off there. That would allow more time, it saves another 10 minutes on the train and 10 on the bus getting back to Haymarket! The advantage of Waverley is that there will nearly always be an Airport Bus waiting whereas at Haymarket you'll have to wait, maybe in the rain, for one to come along. With all the roadworks I’m not sure if once you exit Haymarket the Airport Bus stop (it’s the blue one) will be 20/30yards to the left or right, its been both over the past few months, but I’m sure the wee man on the exit ticket barrier will be able to tell you. You'll need the exact fare, £3.50 single £6 return. And stick your hand out when you see the bus. The bus is very quick, you wouldn’t be much quicker in a taxi which I reckon would set you back £20 - £25! All you ever need to know about the Airport Bus
Issy, I didn't think there was a taxi rank at the Gyle. Edited by Jack735 |

Ah but remember Eginburger has bus lanes so they can charge their way thru us car users. Just be wary of the Tram! |

Here's another plan for you to mull over. Forget going anywhere near Edinburgh town centre. Get off the train at Inverkeithing in Fife (20 mins short of Edinburgh) and catch the 747 Air Direct bus service from there. It's frequent, theres only one stop between there and the airport, it's only £4.50 each way and it only takes 15-20 mins, the same as the bus out of Edinburgh centre. Drops you off right outside the terminal door to boot Details below. |

Was going to suggest Inverkeithing (Obviously!
) too but wasn't sure how to get from there to the Airport. I just know it would be much easier getting from there to the Airport rather than coming out of Edinburgh. Good shout Ham! |
