Steve, I agree with your sentiment but its those who are middle class who are being policed and fined . A mugger probably has nothing so there is F**K All chance of paying a fine even if they wanted to .


What is needed is a proper detterent for all and the only way to do this is imprison the likes of muggers , drug dealers  and the scum of life and then fine those who like Harriet Harman who already has two speeding offences, could have been charged with leaving the scene of an accident without giving or taking details. 

Its only then you will see what to all is a reasonable comparison

The trouble is a precedent has now been set and next time anyone  in a Tesco's car park nudges the bumper of the car behind when reversing into a parking space they potentially could receive the same punishment.
Lots of people could lose their licenses  and the government will get millions in fines to fund more wars. Yes, as such I have no sympathy for MP's in general  but the idiotic judiciary that we seem to be inflicted with will no doubt now feel its their duty to punish the ordinary man in the street to the same extent.

On a legal note as there had not been any evidence of her being on a mobile at the time presented to the court and that particular  charge being dropped, how were they able to bring a charge of driving without due care and attention without said evidence.

Exactly Peter, and you may remember a few years ago I posted on here after a young guy in a Micra ran into the rear wing on the ex wife's e36. The car belonged to his mother and he turned out to be uninsured but the police did not want to know because it was in a car park.
