Howdy, I own a 03 E46 coupe, about 4 months ago I noticed the revs shooting up and falling down until it nearly stalled, when I started the car or it was stationary in traffic. I changed the airflow sensor and this seemed to stop the high and low revving but it still isn't running properly, its like its hunting a small bit. I drove out of my house yesterday in first gear and pressed the accelerator and nothing, the car was running but no revving, turned it on and off and it was ok, this has happened a couple of times since, only when takin off. Any ideas of what it migh be would be appreciated, getting dangerous crossing the road in case it cuts out again...

Until you plug it in to a diagnostic anything is just guess work I'm afraid. |

+1, sounds like familar symptoms consistent with a cam sensor. Depending on the engine, there may be two of them. Some suggest that you should replace them by the pair. If it is this, then it should be a clear error on the codes. |
