chaps,

Does anybody know how to open a bmw e39 touring with a totally flat battery and all the doors are closed. I cant open the drivers door with the key and therefore cannot get to the bonnet release.

Ive thought about smashing the passenger quater window in a desperate attempt but the way im feeling this week i might just end up doing the whole car. (cylinder head gasket gone).

Any salvation out there.

Imran

Turn the key in the boot lock and get to the battery that way, assuming that the battery is in the boot of the touring.  And assuming that the touring tailgate has a key lock in it.

I disconnected the battery on my E39 without unlocking the car but unlocking the boot only.  I then shut the boot to keep my tools safe, came back to the car and the remote wouldn't work, penny dropped that it wouldn't as the battery was disconnected.  Major relief follwed when the key worked to unlock the boot lid.

Unfortunately there is no key lock in the boot lid or the passenger side door, Shouldnt the door open from the drivers side key lock?.
