Hi guys!

Firstly sorry for my ugly English ;)

So, I need some help.

I'm owner of a European left-hand drive E28 525e (no cat) '84 production year. And more than a year I can't solve an issue with ICV. It didn't works properly.
Engine revs are same on cold or hot engine (~850 1/min). So winter engine starting came tricky.

ICV looks strange. I didn't see anywhere item like this one. Here it is (left upper corner of a photo):

There is a picture from a ETK (bmwfans.info) Item #11:

A question - where must go a single wire from a servo (Item #12)? In my case it goes to a ignition coil (wire with a yellow insulating tape on a photo). I think it's wrong. But anyone can't confirm or refute that statement.

If anyone has a same expirience - help me please! I didn't know where I can ask a question like this (didn't know Deutch as well).

Thanks a lot!

Try removing it from the engine bay and squirting Wynns Carb and fuel injector cleaner into it.  In this country it comes in a purple aerosol can which you can get from most motor factor/car accessory shops.  There is bound to be a similar product which you can get where you are.  Alternatively try cleaning it out with petrol (again having first removed it from the car)

At that age it may well be blocked up with oily deposits and just needs a clean.  I cleaned out the ICV (using Wynns) in my old Senator and it made a huge improvement to the idle.

Be exclusive and drive a Petrol 5 Series!

Ok, I'll try to clean valve mechanical part tomorrow, but it only half of a question.

Still not clear with a valve control. How it controlled? Where from? It takes control via vacuum line from an intake maniford, or it controlled via electrical servo (Actuator)? In second case I can't understand where the control signal is taken for that actuator..

Some manuals told that Item#12 is a thermo controlled actuator, but didn't told how it works/controlled.. =( It's self-controlled (temperature), or somewhere else? What is purpose of this actuator, and how it works?

My 525e '88 has a same problem with idle valve actuator, I did replaced with new one, worked fine for a while but then back to the same problem.  Wonder how to check if actuator idle valve still works or not ?
