730i, E32.  (1.) the heater system does not get very hot. (2.) All the vents on both sides function normally, but the passanger side blows cold all the time. (3.) Blower fan only works on max power.

the problem with the heater not blowing hot could be the heater valve sticking, could give it a tap and see if it the blows warm to see if is the fault, with the fan speed could be the heater resistior pack failed.

Agree.

In my 5, exactly the same problems occurred.  A few gentle taps with a small toffee hammer on the valve unit (Feel which one is cold and tap it gently but consistently) solved the problem entirely.  Then, over the next few weeks, continually move the passenger side Temperature control from hot to cold, to make the valve "work", and loosen any gunge.

The valve unit is (On the 5 anyway) easily traceable because it is attached to the firewall, and lots of water hoses go into it!  From above, there are two metal discs, about the size of a 10p.  Tap the cold one.  You may then wish to flush the system, to remove the gunge that is blocking up the valve.  Make sure you put back in the correct type and mixture of Anti-freeze.

As for the blower control only working partially, this is a common fault in many cars.  My present 5 series only works on levels 3 and 4, I've tried to mend it, I could get it working on 1 and 2 by applying pressure to the unit with a screwdriver, but I couldn't get into the module without a full day of dashboard fiddling.  The only way is to replace the module at the back of the control Knob.  This means Radio Out, press that particular section of dash out, remove all hard cables (WITHOUT bending them) from the sliders, remove all electrical connections.  Find fault and replace all bits.  A lot of hassle, unless it is really bothering you.

You should see the results of the "Tapping with a small hammer" (1)  immediately.  As soo as the hot water gets past the jammed valve, the air in the pass. side blower will get hot.

Just don't wallop it one!

(1) This will be my book title.  A sort of make-do-and-mend car maintenance manual, for those with bangers.
