Been a while since I have been on here but having a few issues so here I am.

Not sure if my signature will still work but I have a 2001 BMW 325 coupe which has been well.. abandoned in my mums garage for the last year or two with the intention of putting it back on the road when the weather is good and I have some spare cash to throw at it.

Mechanically never had a problem with the car the body work is another issue but as its been parked up for so long the battery is gubbed. Normally turn it over when I am back home and it starts fine this time however the battery was flat tried jump starting it still nothing could hear the starter clicking but no joy.

Left it for half an hour and came back same as before only tried it once then took the jump leads off. Everything went off including the interior lights would have thought it would have transfered enough juice in that time to keep the lights on.

Now I will get to the point.... assuming it is just the battery that is done should the car not have been able to start when hooked up by the jump leads even if it died as soon as I remove them trying to determine if its more than just the battery problem.

Any help appreciated

Nope, if the battery is a dead as a dodo then the jump leads won't help, the dead battery will just pull down the power. You could try swapping the battery over with the one from the "jump" vehicle, if it still doesn't want to start then you know it isn't the battery. If it does - then go and buy another.

Thanks for getting back to me the battery is only 2 years old so if I can hunt down the receipt I am sure it had a 3 yr warranty on it so might try and get a replacement.

agreed, even if the battery is just two years old without continual use the thing just dies. Hopefully you'll find the receipt though as I was quite shocked at the price of batteries!
