I have a 1993 316i saloon, and I plan to fit an M3 style rear diffuser with a twin cut-out.

I should be getting a Remus Twin Pipe back box.

Can anyone tell me if aftermarket exhausts use the same fittings and brackets as the original exhaust, or do new holes have to be drilled?

Cheers to anyone who can offer any input!

I fitted a Scorpion stainless on my 320. The rear box is of a bigger diameter. The back box is held on with two metal brackets secured with a bolt through them. It is usual practice to have to have the bolt (which is welded to the bracket) drilled out - the back box should come with longer bolts which you then slide through and lock in place with M8 nuts (locknuts work best).

This takes some time - it maybe easier to buy two new brackets from the main dealer and prepare all the drilling work etc before hand so as to ease your fitting.
